Overview:

Position Summary

The call taker is responsible for handling incoming calls in a swift and proper manner through the use of the Communications Center system.
Responsibilities:

Operational Objectives

  • Receive incoming telephone calls.
  • Provide Pre-Arrival instructions to callers.
  • Maintain contact with 911 Centers to coordinate responses to requests for service. (if applicable)
  • Channel non-emergency calls to appropriate personnel.
  • Perform basic data entry.
  • Prepare and complete reports stating progress, problems and statistics for review by appropriate managers and supervisors.
  • Maintain contact with all crews and units.
  • Maintain contact with 911 Centers and Facilities for requests in service.
  • Provide directions to on scene personnel if needed.
  • Ensures strict patient/customer confidentiality

Training

  • Participate in all required training sessions, including, but not limited to any mandatory Company training.

Customer Service

  • Communicate with all external and internal customers in a professional manner and continuously portray a positive image of Rural/Metro.
  • Exhibit a professional image and appropriate professional appearance while on the job at all times.
Qualifications:
  • Ability to communicate orally and written in a clear concise manner
  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong organizational skills
  • Logistical planning ability
Educational Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED required.
