Overview:

The Fleet Technician performs scheduled preventative maintenance based on Company required guidelines and in accordance with CAAS standards where applicable. Repairs and maintains company vehicles and mechanical equipment within the regulations of Department of Transportation (DOT), State Department of Health, Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and Rural/Metro Corporation.

Responsibilities:

Maintenance

  • Daily shop cleanup
  • Performs the required preventative maintenance according to recommendations.
  • Performs maintenance in accordance with manufacture standards. ASE certifications preferred for levels of maintenance being performed.
  • Use various diagnostic equipment, tools and other shop equipment.
  • Initiates purchase orders for parts and machines.
  • Performs State inspections of all road vehicles.
  • Maintains and repairs stretcher and stair chair operations.
  • Road service calls as necessary to evaluate and/or repair failed vehicles and/or equipment.
  • Inspects vehicles for possible other failures or potential problems.
  • Test drives each vehicle over approved route, which includes a combination of city streets and highways for no less than 5 miles.
  • Serves as a backup to other Fleet Technicians and as needed

Administrative

  • Data entry into computer system
  • Logs daily Technician hours on each work order.
  • Issues fluids used on company vehicles to assigned work orders in computer system.
  • Completes parts requests and logs parts used from parts room on posting sheet immediately.

Training

  • Participates in all required training sessions, including, but not limited to any mandatory Company training.

Customer Service

  • Works with internal and external customers.
Qualifications:
  • Current state driver’s license
  • Satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company’s Driving Policy.
  • At least 12 months experience as a mechanic in both gasoline and diesel engines, electrical, brakes, suspension systems, transmissions and A/C, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Educational Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • ASE Certifications preferred.
